is dusty and a mess and NOT…I repeat NOT going to be ready this weekend. We can just add that to the ever growing list of disappointing things I have to put up with……so this weekend will be spent finalizing the closet design, unpacking and putting up books so I have SOMETHING unpacked and buying more underwear. Hopefully, the floor will actually be in place Tuesday.
The first part of the remodel started yesterday and made some interesting discoveries. The door to the laundry room was at one time, an arched doorway. I kind of struggled with restoring that for a few hours last night, but after looking at the frame and surrounding areas, I can retain the arch and restore at a later date if I want, but will go with the pocket door for now. Another interesting discovery was 4, maybe 5 different wallpapers on the old wall. I was able locate a piece of plaster with what I think is the orignal wallpaper. Next task is to try to identify and date the house from the paper.
When I went upstairs to have the morning cup o’ joe, only 2 of the boys greeted me…Smokey and Barry. Loki was nowhere to be seen. The floor in the laundry room got torn up yesterday and the heating/air vent was open, so visions of Loki and his big butt getting stuck ran through my mind but he was not there, at least where I could see him. I called him…but he is a cat and well…they are not very responsive to calling! Loki, however, was thinking FOOD and meowed. I heard him, in the direction of the laundry room and again thought he might had actually squeezed his fluffy self into the vent and then couldn’t turn around…looked again, felt for hot air and sure enough, air was flowing so no Loki in the vent. Relief! I called, he meowed and I finally located him underneath my drop-leaf table. Boxes are stacked all round the table, so I am guessing that he could squeeze in there jumping down, but could not quite fit into the space jumping up to get out. I moved a box, out he came, looking quite pleased to be free…and in true Loki fashion, headed directly for the food!
