The first part of the remodel started yesterday and made some interesting discoveries.  The door to the laundry room was at one time, an arched doorway.  I kind of struggled with restoring that for a few hours last night, but after looking at the frame and surrounding areas, I can retain the arch and restore at a later date if I want, but will go with the pocket door for now.  Another interesting discovery was 4, maybe 5 different wallpapers on the old wall.  I was able locate a piece of plaster with what I think is the orignal wallpaper.  Next task is to try to identify and date the house from the paper.

the last three days, I have had my morning cup of coffee sitting in my inglenook….it is so nice and peaceful.  Now that the house in Florida has sold and we have a new house here, the pressure in our life has eased considerably.  The downside…we start the remodeling Monday and are living in the basement of our house for 6 weeks!  The upside…we have a basement we can live in!

Funny story….we can’t get the sofa out of the apartment, so movers are coming today to, hopefully, move it to the new house.  Because we have them for 2 hours, they will be putting the tops on the buffet, desk and relocating the heavy boxes for the remodel.

it has been quite a while since I last posted and as noted in the title of this post, just been plain old busy.  Terry and I have spent 4 of the last 5 weekends working in Chris’ house or helping with the baby shower.  We had one weekend home and spent that moving a few thing from the apartment into the new house.

That would mean our offer was accepted and we indeed closed on the second house.  I can not begin to convey how much it means to me to have a house that Terry and I picked out together and we will share.  The house in Orlando was his with his first wife and I really hated it….not because it was their together, just the floor plan was awful.  Of course, we had that year of living in different cities too, so things are looking up on the home front!

Grandbaby #1 will be making his appearance soon and I CAN’T WAIT TO SEE HIS LITTLE FACE and hold him and give him a little kiss and smell that sweet new baby smell…heck, I can even deal with the poopy diaper smell, cause I am sure his won’t stink!

This weekend..painting the office and unpacking boxes in the new house while waiting for Terry to get back with the rest of our stuff from Florida.  by Sunday, everything will be here…..finally!
