Othello, the little kitten that showed up last week, passed his feline leukemia test and is now happily awaiting a forever family in the kitty corral at the vet clinic. Mandy named him Othello because his tabby marks are big gray O’s on his sides. So, in keeping with the Shakespeare theme…all’s well that ends well….
I have noticed a cat hanging around. She was very skittish and I could never get close to her. I also noticed several smaller cats…generally referred to as kittens…in the general area of the other cat. Haven’t noticed the larger cat in about a week and guess what turned up last night. A kitten! The boys next door took him and all was well until about an hour later when they knocked on my door, kitten in hand and a sad story that their cat was not ”adjusting”. Now, I should say at this point in the story, I have 3, yes, 3 cats. One, Smokey, loves anyone and anything. Loki doesn’t like other cats…at first, but after a couple of days, he adjusts. The last cat, Barry, is the definition of scaredy cat. Only a few people outside of family have actually seen him as he hides as soon as anyone walks in the door. Barry is not a small cat, but when the kitten, a very tiny kitten looked at him, he ran and hid in the bathtub, shaking and terrified. He will get over this in maybe…NEVER! So, I am in a bit of a pickle as I have fallen for this little kitten, but have the Barry issue. Aha! My co-worker runs a shelter and I asked, she can’t take him …but found a vet office that has a kitten corral and they will! Yeah! He has to pass the Feline Leukemia test and we are good to go.
What a day!
