Do I live in the greatest country…I would have to say yes! Here’s why….I can, if I want, say my president is an idiot and I won’t go to jail. I can say my government does some really stupid things and again, I am not in jail. While the choices may not seem great some years, I do have a choice of who I can vote for, or even not vote, it is my choice.
I can march and wave a sign in front of a store, etc that I disagree with and as long as I am not trespassing, I can march as long as I so desire.
I can go into any church that I fancy to attend any day of the week and worship as I choose. I can choose not to believe.
Am I special just because I was born here..no, just lucky that my forefathers came here and worked for the freedoms and opportunities they didn’t have in their home country. Parts of my family have been here a long time, since the war that got this whole thing started, other parts not quite that long. I wish I had something more profound to say about the 4th, but all I know is I am grateful I am an American and maybe I shouldn’t take it as much for granted as I do.
